Author, Dr King

Dr. Kathleen P. King’s insightful educational books and motivational speaking emerge from her personal and professional growth overcoming multiple physical disabilities and socio-cultural barriers. Audiences say her vision and guidance for transformative growth are inspirational and illuminating.

Born and raised in New England in an Irish-Italian working class family, her mother loved reading, and both parents valued education.Dr. King transitioned through several careers and a diverse academic background prior to becoming an author. Since 1998, she has written more than 20 books, edited many more, and become a popular author and keynote speaker. At this time, many of her books focus on the transformations adults experience across their lives, technology changes and their social adoption, how to support people through those changes, and her research in the field.

“Kathy’s” immense talents as an author and speaker leap from her books’ pages, drawing readers into her passion and expert knowledge of adult learning, instructional technology, research, and higher education. Her creative, practical, and, often humorous, discussions of research and learning draw from her broad academic background and experience across the medical sciences, social sciences, engineering, education, research, technology and theology. She earned her doctorate and MED from Widener University, a MA from Columbia International and a BA from Brown University.

Dr. Kathleen Palombo King’s career as a professor spanned 30 years where she not only taught, but also served in multiple capacities as a researcher, author, program director, faculty mentor and developer, doctoral dissertation advisor, mentor, advisor, and administrator. She worked in many higher education instructions including, University of Central Florida, Orlando (2015-2021), University of South Florida, Tampa (2010-2015), Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education (1997-2010) and Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (1990-1997), Widener University (1996-1997), and Holy Family College (1995-1997).

In the midst of this busy adventure, in 1990, she founded Transformation Education. Her private firm provides educational consulting and faculty coaching services.

Since 2021, Kathy resides in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, continuing her journey of lifelong learning, writing, and discovery.
